I have often held a debate with my parents about the value
of a college education. My dad thinks it’s overrated. My mom thinks it’s
totally worth it. After reading this article, I am definitely a fan of the
vocational track. In high school I would have never considered it. The stigmas
that Phillips mentions in his article held true to me and my environment. I
have to admit that at times I have wondered what my college education has
actually afforded me besides debt and relationships. Unless you are getting a
college degree for a specific field, how does it help you compete in society? I
know people who chose the vocational track and are doing way better
financially. If I had to do it over again, I would give it some serious
thought.
