Blog Response to: Intervention for Gifted Students By Ben Johnson 6/12/12

I feel for the student in this story. The truth of the matter is that the system is not set-up for students who don’t”fit the mold”. A cookie cutter classroom doesn’t work for every student. At the same time, teachers don’t have time to cater to every student individually. I wish the administrator would have listened to the mother and perhaps offered different solutions before his behavior escalated. I also feel the mother could have been a little more proactive instead of only sending a note. But there are two sides to every story so maybe she felt she did all that she could do.
